Turn2C

Turning an Excel simulator into a smart, assisted platform for selling consórcios.

Function Product Designer / UX-UI Designer
PERIOD 2021

How we structure the simulation and contracting experience for consortium quotas, translating a complex mathematical model into clear flows for the commercial team and into development-ready formats.

A Turn2c me procurou inicialmente para desenvolver a landing page que comunicasse a solução que os founders estavam construindo.

From this first contact, the challenge grew: they needed someone to study, together with the product team, the best experience for the commercial team to use the system simulator - generating the screens and flows that would leave the project ready for back-end programmers to implement the functionalities.

More than drawing screens, it was necessary to translate a data analysis model, previously run in Excel spreadsheets, into a digital experience capable of guiding partner brokers to the best decision for each client.

High-level goals

For this project, the product team and technical leadership gave us a clear set of requirements for building the platform.

  • 01 Understand the Excel simulator and the concept behind the product.
  • 02 Structure the search engine flow for the best group and quota options.
  • 03 Design the registration and quotation flow for partner brokers.
  • 04 Organize the information architecture of the platform.
  • 05 Make screens and streams ready for handover with the back-end team.

How can we

Understand who really uses the platform

The first step was to understand the audience of use: they were not traditional consortium sellers, but partner brokers who needed a decision support tool. This completely changed the priorities of language, information density, and the expected level of automation on the screens.

Translate intelligence into flow

Turn2c's solution delivers an intelligent report for the purchase of the best quotas to meet the end customer's goal. Our job was to design how this intelligence - before just a spreadsheet - turned into a clear simulation journey, with steps of data entry, processing, and delivery of results.

Build two central flows

We work in parallel with two major flows: that of the simulator and search engine for the best options for groups and consortium quotas, and that of registration and quotation made by partner brokers. Each one required its own navigation logic, but needed to maintain visual and language consistency with the other.

Validate before delivering

We form a group of users for tests and conduct usability tests via online tools, reviewing the flows with heuristic evaluation before moving on to the delivery step.

In retrospect

This project reinforced the importance of deeply understanding the business rule before drawing any screen. Simulating and hiring consortium quotas involves financial variables and statistics that needed to be translated into simple language for those who use the platform on a daily basis. Working side by side with the product team was essential to transform a mathematical model into an intuitive user experience and leave the project structured enough so that the back-end team could implement the functionality without rework.
